Ithaca By Night

The works in Ithaca By Night are equal parts fantasy, cartoon and reality. I’m a night person and have always enjoyed making night scenes. These pieces show Ithaca spots that caught my imagination on night rambles when the sun goes down and the moon and stars come out.

First I take many photos which help me create my vision of the site. I use digital painting (sometimes pixel by pixel), some PhotoElements and varied media. Digital painting software works well with mixed media. A layer of  woodcut, watercolor, any paints, colored pencils, or any medium can be added and when scanned, flattens out into a seamless image.
