DIGITAL DIALOGUES EXHIBIT

The  Digital Dialogues exhibit, at The Community School of Music and Arts in November, engages the Ithaca community in the creation, understanding, and appreciation of the digital arts. Digital painting, digitally manipulated photography, computer animation, mixed media with digital elements, digital collage, digital video art, computer based illustration, web-based art and interactive installation pieces will be featured. In addition to the Digital Dialogues exhibition, is a DIgital Dialogues Community Web Site slide show installation which will be on display at CSMA.

Digital art uses digital technology as product, process or subject. I find it inspiring that The Austin Museum of Digital Arts, first in the USA, says,”Our job is not to legitimize digital art (time will do that for us) but rather to educate the public, support artists, open a dialogue and to distinguish digital art from art movements of the past.”

Digital arts engage people in multiple ways: visually, intellectually, and as a participatory arts community. This exhibit hosts a varied group of artists and media exploring a socially relevant topic in an era where media literacy is crucial.
